Da Nang Party chief extends Tet greetings to senior citizens

Da Nang Party Committee Secretary Nguyen Van Quang on Monday visited the Executive Board of the city-based Thai Phien Club for senior citizens to extend his Tet greetings to them.

During his meeting with senior citizens, Secretary Quang wished them good health and happiness in the year ahead.

He also highly praised the club for serving as a core force in proactively and actively delivering constructive ideas to the local authorities on Party building, and making the great dedication to the city’s progress over the past year.

The municipal Party chief also took the opportunity to encourage the club’s members to join even greater efforts with the city’s authorities to build Da Nang into a more civilised, modern and peaceful city in the coming time.

Representatives from the club’s Executive Board expressed their thankfulness to the city leaders for their kind support and care, re-affirming all club members’ willingness to join forces with the local authorities for the sake of the city’s socio-economic progress in the time to come.

Till date, a total of 2,527 local senior citizens have joined this prestigious group. Over the past years, despite their retirement, the majority of the club’s members have still participated in social affairs as residential quarters team leaders, and in Party and socio-political organisations.

In particular, they have also got involved in promoting patriotic emulation movements, educating the younger generations about national revolutionary traditions, fighting negative phenomena in society, promoting the spirit of criticism and self-criticism, establishing a close relationship with the local authorities and participating in a wide range of charitable activities and studying promotion programmes.
