See-off ceremonies for recruits were held in districts in a joyful and cozy ambiance, with the attendance of their family members, beloved ones and representatives from Da Nang authorities.

Da Nang Party Committee Secretary Nguyen Van Quang attended the see-off ceremony for recruits in Hoa Vang District. He presented congratulatory bouquets and extended his words of great encouragement to recruits in a bid to inspire them to fulfill their assigned tasks well.

According to a report by the Hoa Vang District Military Command, a combined total of 225 totally eligible young people across the district have been enlisted to serve in military and police forces this year.

All of the new recruits across the city could not hide their excitement as they had the chance to serve their city, and their nation at large. They also expressed their determination to fulfill their assigned tasks well.

Compulsory enlistment has existed in Vietnam since the end of the Viet Nam War in 1975 and thousands of young people join the army every spring. Under the Vietnamese military service rules, all Vietnamese male citizens aged between 18 and 25 are eligible for the 2-year military service programme if they meet country’s physical and mental health standards. Those in such age range but are studying at universities and colleges nationwide will have to fulfil their their obligations until 27. In addition, Vietnamese female citizens might register for this military service programme in the spirit of volunteering.

Here are some photos, captured by our reporters at departure points across Da Nang, reflecting a joyful and cozy ambiance.
