The Da Nang Department of Public Security plans to have issued chip-based ID cards to over 411,300 eligible citizens by 1 July this year. In an efforts to realise the target, dozens of mobile teams have been set up across Da Nang so as to speed up the mass issuance of such ID cards among local residents.

Simple and prompt procedures

Senior Lieutenant Pham Phu Thien from the Police Team for Administrative Management of Social Order under the Ngu Hanh Son District Police Department remarked it often took one person less than 15 minutes to conduct registration process of an e-ID card. Currently, residents get a 50% discount off ID card issuance fees, so they have to pay just 15,000 VND/ person to have a new e-ID card issued.

Mr Pham Dinh Hanh, a resident of Ngu Hanh Son District’s Hoa Quy Ward, expressed his satisfaction as the issuance of e-ID cards was conducted in a simple yet prompt fashion.

“All you need to do was to get ordinal numbers at the district-based one stop shop for public services, then show off your existing ID cards, re-check your personal information, and have your fingerprints taken” said Mr Hanh.

Since 26 January, between 40 and 70 people on a daily average have visited the district-based one stop shop to register for new ID cards. Till date, around 600 residents in the district have had their chip-based ID cards issued.

Likewise, police in Hai Chau District have started to conduct the issuance of e-ID cards for local residents since 26 January. Up to now, the issuance of e-ID cards has been carried out for close to 1,400 residents across the district.

Every day, around 100 people are seen bringing the required paperwork and waiting for their turn to conduct registeration for new ID cards at the Hai Chau District-based one stop shop.

Pham Van Hieu residing in Hai Chau District’s Hoa Cuong Nam Ward said he received reception and specific guidance from police officers for implementing digital ID card issuance procedures.

Senior Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Ban, Deputy Head of the Hai Chau District Police Department, remarked, in addition to increasing their working hours, police in the district will set up more mobile teams at residential areas, schools, government agencies and businesses in a bid to accelerate the issuance of such digital ID cards among local residents.

In a similar move, police at the Ngu Hanh Son District’s one stop shop will have to work 2 shifts every day, including Saturdays and Sundays, whilst mobile police teams will work 7 days a week with 3 shifts per day instead of 2. The purpose is to speed up the implementation of new ID card issuance as well as create favorable conditions for Da Nang people who do not have free time to change their existing ID cards to new ones during office hours.
