Da Nang leader congratulates border guards on their special day
Da Nang Party Committee Deputy Secretary cum municipal People's Council Chairman Luong Nguyen Minh Triet, on Wednesday, visited and extended his greetings to the Da Nang Border Guard High Command on the occasion of the 62nd anniversary of the Traditional Day of the Viet Nam Border Guards (3 March 1959) and the 32nd anniversary of the Whole-People's Border Day (3 March 1989).

During his visit to the municipal Border Guard High Command, Mr Triet highly hailed local border guards for their efforts to drive Da Nangs growth, and ensure the city’s security and defence over recent years. He also praised border guards for their dedication for Da Nang's fight against COVID-19 last year.
Deputy Secretary Triet hoped that local border guard forces would make greater efforts to overcome their difficulties and challenges to fulfill their assigned tasks, thereby significantly contributing to the city’s progress.
In reply, Colonel Ton Quoc Khanh, the commander of the Da Nang Border Guard High Command, remarked that, over recent years, his unit has focused on safeguarding the country's border sovereignty, as well as fighting against smuggling, commercial fraud, and drug crimes. Also, local border guards have been active in helping Da Nang people coping with the impact and aftermath of recent natural disasters.
“Of special note, in light of the complicated developments of the coronavirus pandemic, the Da Nang Border Guard High Command has sent a combined total of about 100 officers and men to designated quarantine facilities. Regardless of the hardship and the potential risks of catching the deadly virus, the assigned officers and men have always strived to produce their best possible work performance” said Colonel Khanh.
