As reported by Department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs, the action programme for children for the 2013 - 2020 period has attracted a great deal of attention of all levels and the whole society.

It is noticeable that a total of VND1,470 billion worth of funding was raised from domestic and foreign organisations and individuals each year for this highly practical programme.

The programme recorded many outstanding results. In particular, the city's education’s face was significantly lifted with upgrade on educational facilities.

Also, the Children's Council model - a channel to receive children's opinions and needs-has been effectively deployed on a trial basis, featuring an array of activities to garner children’s opinions, with focus on tackling learning pressure, school violence, and child abuse in the community and cyber space, among others.

The model has served as an important information channel helping all-level Party committees, authorities and agencies devise child-related policies and guidelines.

Besides, cultural and sports institutions serving children have taken their shapes at district and ward/ commune levels whilst hundreds of privately-invested kids play areas have been developed across the city.

As for the 2021 - 2030 period, the city has set out 5 action goals, namely ensuring all children have the best possible health, and nutrition care and living standards; protecting them from abuse, violence and trafficking, guaranteeing their access to quality education and healthy recreation and entertainment conditions, promoting their involvement in affairs that are suitable for their age and abilities, and building Da Nang into a child-friendly city by 2030 in line with international standards.

Delivering her closing speech at the event Vice Chairwoman Yen highly appreciated the efforts and encouraging results achieved by municipal agencies and the grassroots authorities in the implementation of the action programme for children in the 2013 - 2020 period.

At the same time, it is recommended that functional local agencies, especially the Department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs, pay special attention to nutrition-related issues to improve children's health and reduce the rate of obesity and malnutrition.

Besides, heed should be paid to developing the child protection service system, enhancing the efficiency of receiving children's constructive opinions and grasping their real needs so as to create the most comprehensive development environment and conditions for them.

On this occasion, certificates of merit from the municipal People's Committee were awarded to 12 collectives and 7 individuals in recognition for their outstanding achievements in action for children in the 2013 - 2020 period
