Over VND30 billion goes to help needy people
Over the past year, more than VND30 billion has been raised by generous philanthropists nationwide for the Da Nang Fund for the Poor.
The donated money has gone to help 68 poor local families build new houses, assist 265 other poor families repair their downgraded houses, support the livelihoods to 182 needy people, give medical examinations and treatment to 123 people, grant scholarships for 2,239 pupils and students, and present Tet gifts to 30,000 disadvantaged families.
As of November 30, the Da Nang Fatherland Front Committee and its chapters have received over VND68.3 billion in cash support, and a large amount of essential goods, from generous individuals, organizations, and businesses nationwide in an effort to support the city's battle against COVID-19.
Of which, more than VND 65.6 billion has been donated for the city's COVID-19 prevention and control work, whilst the remaining VND2.7 billion has been for the city's natural disaster response and recovery work.
The city's Fatherland Front Committee has spent more than VND53.6 billion on its COVID-19 prevention and control work, as well as on supporting pandemic-stricken localities.
In addition, the municipal Fatherland Front Committee and its chapters citywide have given more than 150,000 gifts, total value of more than VND21.3 billion, to needy people,
More than 9,900 landlords citywide have exempted or reduced rental fees for tenants who are struggling financially due to coronavirus with a total cost of nearly VND29 billion.
