During her Tuesday reception for National Director of World Vision Viet Nam Doseba Sinay, Da Nang People's Committee Vice Chairwoman Ngo Thi Kim Yen praised the organisation for its great efforts in improving the lives of poor households and disadvantaged children as well as ensuring social welfare in the city.

Vice Chairwoman Yen took the opportunity to thank World Vision Viet Nam for paying close attention to disadvantaged children and women, and poor families, in Son Tra District.

Whilst meeting the city’s leader, Mr. Doseba Sinay presented the draft project ‘Preventing and combating all forms of child labour in toxic and dangerous working environment during the 2022-2024 period’ which was jointly carried out by World Vision Viet Nam and the municipal Department of Labour, War Invalids and Social Affairs.

In reply, Vice Chairwoman Yen said that the municipal authorities would study and soon approve the project in tandem with collecting opinions from relevant agencies about World Vision Viet Nam’s new strategy over the 2023-2027 period, especially some soon-to-be-implemented programmes in the city.

The foreign guest highly appreciated the long-term and sustainable cooperation relationship of the city and World Vision Organisation over the past time.

He added that his organisation was continuing to research and work with local relevant agencies to develop the ‘Preventing and combating all forms of child labour in toxic and dangerous working environment during the 2022-2024 period’ project, and ‘New strategy for children and the poor in urban areas over the 2023-2027 period’.

He also pledged that from now until 2027, World Vision Viet Nam would accompany the city and other localities nationwide to support more children and communities, especially poor households and disadvantaged groups.

It is known that the World Vision Viet Nam-funded Son Tra Urban Area Development Programme is being carried out in the city from September 2018 to September 2022 at a total cost of US$1,980,000.

Also, the organisation pledged to channel US$851,859 into the implementation of the ‘Preventing and combating all forms of child labour in toxic and dangerous working environment during the 2022-2024 period’ project.
