For her part, the new US Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City Susan Burns thanked the city leader for his warm welcome, highly appreciating Da Nang's contributions to the bilateral cooperation relationships between Viet Nam and the United States over the past time.

As the US focuses on trade and investment in Viet Nam, its government wished to ensure supply chain sustainability and support for enterprises to do business in the country, including Da Nang - a destination favoured by US firms, she said.

In the coming time, besides strategic cooperation areas, the US wants to cooperate with Viet Nam in a wide range of areas, including security, investment, trade, and people-to-people diplomacy, according to Ms. Burns.

Ms. Susan Burns said that the United States is willing to support Viet Nam in the field of renewable energy so that Viet Nam can achieve the commitments at the UN Climate Change Conference (COP26).
