Da Nang Party Committee Deputy Secretary and municipal People's Council Chairman Luong Nguyen Minh Triet on Thursday hosted a reception for Homero Acosta Álvarez, Secretary General of the National Assembly of People’s Power and the Council of State of Cuba, who is on a working visit to Viet Nam.

Deputy Secretary Luong Nguyen Minh Triet expressed his delight at the strong traditional friendship between Cuba and Da Nang, and Viet Nam as a whole.

He remarked that Da Nang always paid special attention to developing cooperative relationships in many fields with Cuba, as shown by the visits to Cuba made by the leaders in 2016 and 2018.

Mr. Triet also brief his guest on the city’s remarkable socio-economic development achievements in the first 10 months of 2022.

After COVID-19 has been basically brought under control, Da Nang has taken a number of measures to drive the city’s economic recovery and development, added he.

Currently, the city is focusing on 5 key areas: high-quality service tourism associated with resort real estate; sea ​​economy and seaport associated with logistics services; high-tech industry associated with electronics and telecommunications; information technology in association with digital technology, and high-tech agriculture associated with high-quality fishery products

In addition, Da Nang is well performing social welfare activities, and taking care of people's lives with good practices.

Deputy Secretary Triet asked for help from Secretary General Homero Acosta Álvarez to carry out cooperation programmes between Da Nang and Cuba in the coming time, as well as encourage Cuban businesses to seek investment opportunities in the city.

For his part, the Cuba visitor thanked the city leader for his warm welcome, and expressed his impression on the friendliness and hospitality of Da Nang people.  

Mr. Homero Acosta Aslvarez reviewed the history of the good traditional friendship between the two Parties and States of Viet Nam and Cuba, affirming that the Cuban Party, State and people always cherish the affection towards the Party, State and people of Viet Nam.

He believed that Da Nang would continue to reap new successes and make more positive contributions to deepening the good traditional friendships between Cuba and Viet Nam in the years ahead.
