Vice Chairman Ho Ky Minh briefed his guest on the city’s potential, strengths and current development spearheads. He added the city boasted a complete transport infrastructure, along with a fast-growing economy. In its development orientation, the city has been focusing on the fields of tourism, high-tech development, information technology and logistics. In terms of transport infrastructure, Da Nang has strengths in seaports, airports, road, rail, etc.
Mr. Minh asked for support from Mr. Ivan Petrov to develop Da Nang into a major logistics center of Central Viet Nam and the country as a whole.
He also proposed FIATA to further promote cooperation between the Vietnamese logistics service business community and their peers worldwide, thereby fostering the development of the logistics industry, reducing costs, and increasing the competitiveness of the economy, businesses, products and services.
FIATA President Ivan Petrov expressed his impression of Da Nang and appreciation for the Vietnamese logistic sector's rapid development. The Vietnamese Government’s visions and goals in this field have similarities with FIATA's vision and the federation wants to strengthen cooperation with and support for Vietnam, he stated.
" FIATA is a non-governmental, membership-based organisation representing freight forwarders in some 150 countries. FIATA’s membership is composed of 109 Association Members and over 5,500 Individual Members, overall representing an industry of 40,000 freight forwarding and logistics firms worldwide. Our operations comply with UN standards, so it can be deployed smoothly in Da Nang and Viet Nam in general" Mr. Ivan Petrov emphasised.
Assessing Da Nang, and Viet Nam as a whole, as a safe and potential investment destination, he believed that the hosting of the FIATA World Congress and the federation's enhanced cooperation with Vietnamese agencies would contribute to the development, digitalisation, and greening of the Southeast Asian country’s logistics sector, helping Vietnam become a larger centre for logistics and intermodal transport.
