During her visit, Vice Chairwoman Thi emphasised that the Party, State and people of Viet Nam in general, and Da Nang in particular, always valued and nurtured the special traditional friendship between Viet Nam and Laos, and between Da Nang and Salavan Province.

She also informed about the socio-economic situation, potential and strengths of Da Nang. She voiced her hope that, in the coming time, Da Nang and Salavan Province would continue to promote cooperation in various fields, especially creating the most favorable conditions for businesses in the two localities to seek cooperation opportunities.

Mrs. Thi expressed her desire that People's Councils of the two localities would cooperate together and share experience in local council works in the time ahead.

Recently, Da Nang has coordinated with five south central provinces of Laos, including Salavan, to implement many cooperation programmes. The focus has been on building and upgrading schools, public works and Vietnamese language teaching centers; providing scholarships for Lao students studying in Da Nang; sending Vietnamese teachers to work at Vietnamese language centers; and receiving government officials to practice and learn from experience in the city.

During the 2018-2022 period, Da Nang has spent VND115,924 billion supporting neighbouring provinces of Laos, including VND22.23 billion for Salavan.

Between 2023 and 2027, the city plans to grant full scholarships to Salavan Province every year, including one doctoral scholarship, five postgraduate scholarship, and 10 university scholarships. Also, there are partial scholarships at the Da Nang University of Education for children of the Vietnamese People Association in Salavan Province.

Also on the same day, the Da Nang delegation visited the Vietnamese Language Center in Salavan Province. On behalf of the city leaders, Vice Chairwoman Thi sent greetings and spiritual encouragement to the group of Vietnamese teachers and staff working at the center as well as Lao teachers and staff.

Work started on the Vietnamese Language Centre in Salavan Province in November 2018. The construction of the centre was completed in July 2019 at a cost of VND7.12 billion funded by Da Nang.

The 2-storey building features 5 classrooms, library rooms, working offices, living rooms and dining rooms, all fully equipped with necessary equipment in service of teaching and learning activities.

The Vietnamese Language Center in Salavan province serves as a place to foster Vietnamese language for local officials and students before studying educational programmes in Viet Nam.

On the same day, the Da Nang delegation laid wreaths and offered incense at the memorial site dedicated to President Cayxon Phomvihan in Salavan Province.
