More control of advertisements needed

The Economics and Budget Board of the Da Nang People's Council recently held a working session with the city’s Management Centre for Advertisements.  The purpose was to review the Centre’s performance over the past 10 months, and to discuss its key tasks for 2014.

During the review period, over 3.1 billion VND has been collected from advertisements alongside roads and in other locations across the city.  The city is targeting to reach over 3.8 billion VND in advertisement collections by the end of the year.  However, that target is unlikely to be met due to the city’s preferential fee exemption policies and reductions for advertising local special events earlier this year.

The Economics and Budget Board urged the Centre to better control the present situation of local streets having too many advertisements and banners.  Special attention should be paid to re-arranging the outdoor advertising network in a better way.  A focus should also be on more strictly dealing with illegal advertisements on power poles and at T-junctions, intersections, alleys and in other public areas.
