At 3.00pm on Tuesday, the Anti-robbery Force of the Da Nang Border Guard captured 29-year-old Nguyen Dac Nhan from Quang Nam Province’s Phu Ninh District for “defrauding money”.

Nhan had become acquainted with 21-year-old Le Dinh Nghia from Quang Binh Province’s Le Thuy District, who is working in Da Nang, through the internet.  The fraudster had described himself as an employee at the Da Nang branch of the Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam (BIDV) on Ong Ich Khiem Street.  He asked Nghia to give him 20 million VND in order to pay to the city’s Department of Taxation if Nghia wanted to take loans from the bank. 

After receiving the money from Nghia, Nhan fled.  Nghia shouted for help, and Nhan was arrested by the border guard force.

The offender and the seized money were brought to the Hai Chau District Police Station for further investigation.
