On Monday, the Thach Thang Ward police in Da Nang's Hai Chau District temporarily detained 72-year-old Tran Thi Tuyet Nhung from Binh Phuoc Province for disguising herself as a nun and illegally begging for alms.

Earlier the same day, the ward’s police had found the old lady and a boy, disguised as a nun and novice, begging with a pot bowl near the Dong Da Market on Luong Ngoc Quyen.

At the police station, Nhung showed the photocopied certificate of a Buddhist nun named Tran Thi Tuyet Nhung.  However, the police’s investigations showed that her certificate was fake.  Local police then remanded the 2 offenders and temporarily seized their Buddhist religious clothes, 2 bowls and a total of over 2 million VND.
