Last Saturday, the launch ceremony for the ‘Viet Nam Child Eye Care’ project for the 2016 - 2018 period took place in Da Nang.

Funded by Australia’s Fred Hollows Foundation and the UK’s Standard Chartered Bank, the over 6 billion VND project will be implemented at all primary and junior high schools in Hai Chau, Thanh Khe, Cam Le and Ngu Hanh Son districts.

Under the project, a total of 7,560 short-sighted poor pupils will be given properly prescribed glasses, and 300 others will receive eye therapy and rehabilitation treatments.

In addition, over 6,000 local parents will be given advice about how to take care of their children’s eyes.  Also, training courses on how to provide eye care services and conduct simple vision tests for pupils will be offered to over 3,300 teachers and youth union cadres.
