The painting at Da Nang’s airport, made by paints produced by French-based industrial paint producer Guard Industrie, covers a pillar which is 7.4m in height and 6.4m in diameter with bright images of plants and flowers.

The judges praised the project’s creative and successful transformation of industrial construction into community art.  The use of flowers and green trees helps create a fresh and environmentally-friendly feel for viewers, thus meeting criteria set for the IDA’s Design for Society and Design for Environment category.

Earlier, Thuy was given an honourable mention at the 8th IDA in 2015 for her lotus-shaped fountain at Mai Xuan Thuong flower garden in Ha Noi.

Thuy has created a number of significant ceramic projects, such as the 4-kilometre ceramic mosaic mural on the wall of the dyke system of Ha Noi, a 2.3x1.9 metre map of Viet Nam and 6 ceramic paintings of the Truong Sa (Spratly) Archipelago.
