Urgent investigation needed into fraudulent prize winning programme
A reader from Ca Mau Province recently reported to a journalist from the DA NANG Newspaper about the allegedly fraudulent prize winning programme at www.traophanqua2017.com.
Fake information about the programme’s organiser named Duc |
According to this website, the venue where winners will receive their prizes is on the 6th floor of the Petrolimex Da Nang building at 122 2 September in Hai Chau District. Also on the web is the photo and personal information of a man named Le Tien Duc who is one of the programme’s organising members.
However, according to recent inspections made by our newspaper’s journalists, there are 2 companies involved in the credit and computer software sectors on the 6th floor of the building, but their employees have no knowledge of this website. Also, according to the municipal Police Department, the personal information of the member named Duc is totally fake.
The reader also said that fraudsters have been sending the above-mentioned link to hundreds of Facebook accounts, announcing that their owners had won high value prizes including Air Blade motorbikes and iPhone6 devices. Then, the offenders try to get the personal information and phone numbers of the victims, and convince them to send them 3.5 million VND as a fee for receiving the prizes.
Our newspaper is asking relevant local agencies to conduct an investigation, as soon as possible, into these frauds, thereby preventing more Facebook users from falling victim to this scam.
