Section along Hai Van Pass facing landside risk
In recent days, dozens of landsides have occurred alongside a section of the national Highway 1A from the top of Hai Van Pass to the Lang Co Town in Thua Thien Hue Province’s Phu Loc District.

The pass which is 496m above sea level is at the geographical boundary between Da Nang and the province.
The matter of landslides was resulted from prolonged spells of heavy rains over the past few days.

On Wednesday evening, a volume of rock and soil was found falling freely from the existing steep slopes above alongside the section. This, therefore, may cause danger for road users.

In the same trouble, some parts of the downward slope system of this section have also been damaged by floodwaters.

In particular, warning signs have been already placed at the majority of the reported landside points in order to avoid any unexpected incidents.

The National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting says central regional localities from Quang Binh and Binh Dinh, including Da Nang, are expected to continue experiencing moderate to heavy rains until next Monday.
Hence, all road users are being warned to reduce their travel on the section over the next days due to possible torrential rains.
Relevant agencies in these 2 localities also pledged to take effective measures to deal with any possible landslides alongside the section in a quickly fashion, and effectively regulate the traffic here to ensure the ultimate safety of road users.
