Last Saturday, more than 1,200 delegates, including hundreds of leading professors, doctorate holders and experts in cardiology from Viet Nam, and such foreign countries as the USA, France, Germany, Greece, Singapore, Australia and India, gathered at Da Nang’s Ariyana Convention Centre for the 2^nd Thang Long International Cardiology Conference.

Co-organised by the Ha Noi Cardiology Association, the Ha Noi Heart Hospital and the Viet Nam Cardiology Association, this year’s event took ‘Where Ideas Become Reality’, as its theme.

During the event, the delegates were introduced to such scientific topics as cardiovascular internal medicine, cardiovascular and heart surgery, anesthesiology and resuscitation, circulating blood outside the body, and cardiovascular interventions.

According to the statistics from the World Health Organisation, cardiovascular disease is one of the leading causes of death amongst non-communicable chronic diseases. The disease has negative impacts on the quality of community life, and creates a burden for society.

In Viet Nam, recent years have seen an alarming increase in the number of patients with cardiovascular and cardiovascular-related diseases, posing new tasks and challenges in the field of cardiology for the country.
