Videos on road safety and protection of the public against crime threats shown at coffee shops
As usual, in the evening, a large number of young people in Da Nang, including university and junior college students, gather in coffee shops to enjoy drinks, engage in real conversations with one another, and watch the screenings of football matches.

It is highly praised that, in recent time, videos publicising road safety and protection of the Da Nang public against crime threats at these cafés have been shown at coffee shops. The intention is to appeal for the young to be on high alert against traffic accidents and crime threats.
At 8.00 pm on every Saturday, the Galaxy coffee shop located on Dung Si Thanh Khe Street is almost full of customers watching dramatic football matches, many of whom are students from the University of Sports and Physical Education and Commerce Junior College.
It is noticeable, 15 minutes prior to the match, instead of showing amazing Hong Kong movies like before, the owner of the café inserts a USB drive to the big-screened TV for the display of a footage in which a young man was caught unlocking an expensive motorcycle left unattended on the sidewalk. It took the thief only about 5 seconds to unlock the vehicle.
This was one of the short videos made by the Thanh Khe Tay Ward Youth Union organisation in Thanh Khe District in cooperation with the ward-level Police and the Veterans' Association in early May 2016.
The content of the videos revolves around such issues of deep concern as property thefts, break-ins, traffic accidents, and drugs consumption. These videos are currently shown in 9 coffee shops across the ward.
Thanks to the screening of these videos, the public, especially the young, gain an insight into traffic violations-caused accidents and some tricks criminals use to commit their offences, thereby knowing how to avoid falling victim into such incidents.
At the Google coffee shop on Dung Si Thanh Khe Street at weekends, some videos featuring instructions to help people learn how to ensure road safety, observe traffic signals, and control their speed when driving are usually shown.
Bui Duy Khanh, the Secretary of Thanh Khe Tay Ward Youth Union organisation, said that the ward is one of the city’s high-risk crime areas. Meanwhile, a large number of tertiary students now live and study in this busy ward.
Given that fact, Thanh’s unit usually encourage popular coffee shops to promote the screenings of such video clips before matches start in a bid to attract a great deal of attention from their young customers.
Since May 2018, a total of 4 video clips have been made by the Thanh Khe Tay Ward Youth Union organisation. In the near future, even more video clips on the ‘4 Safe Programmes’ campaign with a focus on social order and urban aesthetics, will be shown at coffee shops across the locality.
