According to the municipal Traffic Safety Committee, there is a high risk of possible road traffic accidents on the Hai Van Pass as a large number of tourist coaches, motorbikes, and vehicles transporting petrol and gas travel on the road.
Most notably, the Hai Van Pass has been experiencing thick fog in the mornings and evenings, which has limited the drivers’ vision and ability to control their vehicles on this road.
In order to ensure the safety of road users over the ongoing public holiday, traffic police in Lien Chieu District are increasing their patrols on the pass.
Stricter penalties will be imposed on road users who exceed the speed limit and zigzag through traffic.
Fines will be imposed on vehicles carrying more passengers than legally allowed, and not meeting technical safety requirements.
Importance will be attached to re-arranging traffic for tourist coaches passing through Hai Van Tunnel as the weather is bad.
The municipal Department of Tourism and the city-based travel agents have issued a warning for tourist coaches not to travel on the Hai Van Pass in case of bad weather.
