The Da Nang Department of Transport has piloted the operation of a push-button traffic light system exclusively for pedestrians in front of the T20 Guest House located at 256 Vo Nguyen Giap Street.

The system operates during 5.00am - 7.00am and 4.00pm – 7.00pm daily.

Apart from these time periods, the light system switches to flashing yellow give ‘ warning’ to vehicles travelling on the street. During peak hours, it always operates in the green phase to ensure smooth movement of traffic flows here.

The system allows adequate crossing time for pedestrians and an adequate clearance interval based upon a maximum walking speed.

In order to cross the street, pedestrians press the button in the control panel of the cylinder-shaped light system. Accordingly, the system will switch from green to yellow for 3 seconds and turn red for 15 seconds, hereby enabling vehicles travelling on the street to stop in the intersection to allow pedestrians to cross safely.

After allowing pedestrians to cross the street, the button pauses its operation for a period of 60 seconds.
