The incident happened at 2pm on 5 February. They were fishing on the Hoang Sa waters when their engine broke down, and they called the Viet Nam Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (Viet Nam MRCC) for assistance in the morning of 7 February.

The fishermen were unable to make repairs, and their boat was adrift in strong winds, rough seas and sea waves to a height of up to 3m, and this tough challenge drove all of them into panic.

Viet Nam MRCC immediately asked the Zone II Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (Da Nang MRCC) to send out its rescue ship SAR 412 to help the boat in distress.

In the early morning of 8 February, SAR 412 arrived at the scene, and all the crew members were then transferred to the rescue ship for first aid.

After many hours of facing high waves and strong wind, rescue ship SAR 412 from Da Nang MRCC has safely brought back the distressed fishermen, who had been in danger at sea, to the Quy Nhon City’s mainland.

Finally, at 9.30am on 9 February, the distressed boat was towed back to the mainland safely.
