Da Nang's young people join the fight against coronavirus
Youth Union (YU) members across Da Nang are joining their city's fight against the coronavirus (Covid-19) with many their practical and meaningful activities.

On 27 and 28 July, YU members in Hai Chau District’s Hai Chau 1 Ward designed and made 2,600 face shields to donate to frontline healthcare workers in the Da Nang General Hospital, the C Hospital and the Da Nang Orthopedic and Rehabilitation Hospital.

Also, they offered 50 face shields to staff of the Immigration Management Office under the Da Nang Department of Public Security.

Secretary of the Hai Chau 1 Ward YU organisation Ho Thi Tra Van remarked her unit's members spent their lunch breaks and free evening time to make a lot of the face shields in a bid to support frontline healthcare workers in the fight against Covid-19
She also highlighted the significance of face shields in helping the wearers protect themselves against flying respiratory droplets that can transmit coronavirus, such as from coughs and sneezes.

Meanwhile, police officers and YU members in Hai Chau District’s Hoa Thuan Dong Ward have provided free 3,000 surgical masks and 110 bottles of alcohol-based hand sanitizer to local residents.
In addition, they have instructed local residents how to wear face coverings and wash their hands safely.
In Thanh Khe District, since Da Nang entered the first day of a 15-day social distancing period to fight the Covid-19 pandemic, YU members across the district have repaired damaged portable hand hygiene stations providing free alcohol-based handrub for locals, and installed new ones in the district.

Mr Tran Thanh Vy, Secretary of YU organisation in the district’s Tan Chinh Ward, said after the first community transmission case of coronavirus was confirmed in Da Nang, the ward’s YU members have repaired and installed 60 portable hand hygiene stations in the locality.
Also, YU members have advised local residents to regularly wash their hands and wear face coverings in order to protect themselves from the deadly virus.
On 28 July, the Da Nang Youth Union launched a programme to call for YU members citywide to support their city's efforts against the new virus.
As of 5pm on the same day, over 1,100 young people have registered to join the frontline in the fight against Covid-19.
