Da Nang Journalists' Association receives over 340 million VND in cash donations to support frontliners

In response to a fundraising campaign to support frontliners in Covid-19 fight launched by the Da Nang Journalists' Association, representatives from the Viet Nam Prosperity Joint Stock Commercial Bank (VPBank), on Wednesday, handed cash donations of 234 million VND to leaders of the Association.

Mr Nguyen Dac Thanh, Director of the central regional branch of VPBank, said that he hoped the donations will make a small contribution to support Da Nang's journalists on the frontline in the fight against Covid-19.

Also on the same day, VPBank representatives donated medical supplies, totalling 5 billion VND, to the Hoa Vang Field Hospital for Covid-19.

Previously, VPBank and its members together handed 15 billion VND in cash donations to  the Viet Nam Fatherland Front Committee and other agencies to help the country tackle Covid-19.

In total, VPBank has donated more than 25 billion VND in both cash and in-kind donations to help the country fight against Covid-19.

After 10 days of launching the fundraising appeal, the Association has raised over 340 million VND in both cash and in-kind donations from generous organisations, individuals, businesses and journalists nationwide.

Of this figure, nationally-renowned pop star My Tam has donated 200 sets of coronavirus protective suits and medical supplies, totalling 20 million VND, to reporters in Da Nang.

The city’s singer Quang Hao has given 20 anti-drop caps and 60 sets of coronavirus protective suits.

Over recent days, the municipal Journalists' Association has provided frontline journalists in the city with more than 450 free portions of meals, over 2,500 surgical masks, 260 sets of coronavirus protective suits, 70 anti-drop caps; 48 bottles of hand sanitizer, 500 bottles of Cordyceps drinks, 30 carton boxes of energy drinks.

The Association has also given 1,000 bottles of Vina Mask salt water (500ml) to the Hoa Vang Field Hospital for Covid-19.

Also on the same day, the Da Nang Fatherland Front Committee received more cash and in-kind donations from some businesses and organisations nationwide to support the city in its fight against the coronavirus pandemic.

In details, the 29 March Textiles and Garments Company donated 100 million VND, the Hai Van Branch of the Bank for Investment and Development of Viet Nam (BIDV) 75 million VND, the Bao Viet Insurance Da Nang Company 30 million VND, the 20 October Preschool more than 15 million VND, the city’s Family Planning Association 5 million VND, and the Hai Chau District Office of Natural Resources and the Environment 4.3 million VND.

Besides, the Viet Nam - France and Viet Nam - Thailand friendship associations supported 5,000 surgical masks; the Binh Phuoc Province-based Ju Joung Trading Service One Member Company Limited 15 barrels of coronavirus protective suits; the Da Nang Maritime Club 6 million VND in cash, 1,000 surgical N95 respirators and 200 coronavirus protective suits; the Quy Khanh Japanese Language Company, the Namico Human Supply Company and the Toan Tam Hai Duong Studying Abroad Consulting Company one tonne of rice; the Gia Lai Provincial Fatherland Front Committee 2 barrels of honey jars; the Ho Chi Minh City-based Aruwa Co.,Ltd., 32 carton boxes of hand sanitizer bottles; the Hung Thinh Group 3,000 coronavirus protective suits; and the Sen Vang Company 500 carton boxes of instant noodles, 60 carton boxes of fish sauce bottles, 60 carton boxes of porridge packages and 27 boxes of hand sanitizer bottles.
