During the Monday meeting on responding to the Covid-19 outbreak, Da Nang Party Committee Deputy Secretary Nguyen Van Quang confidently remarked the positive fact that the new infection numbers recorded in the city are currently on downward trend, which raises hopes that the virus resurgence may be easing in Da Nang.  Nevertheless, higher vigilance against the deadly virus should be kept in place from now onwards due to the unpredictable nature of coronavirus pandemic.

A drop in positive cases clearly shows the efficiency of city-taken on-track and appropriate virus response measures, Deputy Secretary Quang said.

In his perspectives, municipal People’s Committee Chairman Huynh Duc Tho spoke highly of many positive results till date recorded in the enforcement of the city's social distancing rules.

However, in order to avoid public negligence over the virus, importance should be attached to conducting virus elimination tasks, maintaining the daily work intensity as currently, steeping up swap sample taking for testing for the virus at areas identified as Covid-19 hotspots, and putting potential high-risk areas for Covid-19 under lockdown if necessary.

In fact, the coronavirus incubation period -the time from exposure to the onset of symptoms-is really complicated and unpredictable.  Meanwhile, the Da Nang General Hospital is still at risk of coronavirus resurgence as new infections which are linked to this medical establishment have been confirmed every day.

Chairman Tho highlighted the importance of transfer of new Covid-19 patients from the Da Nang General Hospital to the Hoa Vang Field Hospital and the Lung Hospital for intensive treatment. The intention is to facilitate the spraying of disinfectant at the Da Nang General Hospital to be conducted as soon as possible so that this hospital can come back on stream in admitting non- Covid-19 patients suffering other serious diseases from the city and elsewhere in the country.

Local medical workers took swab samples from 13,000 residents across the city on Monday, and somewhat encouragingly, only 6 of whom tested positive for the virus, the Centre of Disease Control (CDC) announced.

According to Director of the Department of Health Ngo Thi Kim Yen, as of Monday, 10,917 F1 and 12,609 F2 contacts had been detected across the city, whilst 23,526 residents have been put into quarantine till date

The Da Nang Department of Health has already mapped out a plan to facilitate the Tien Son field hospital to operate in the most convenient way.  It was proposed that this venue would become the second facility of the Da Nang General Hospital dedicated for the treatment of Covid-19 patients.  The aim is to facilitate the use of seals, accounts, and health insurance payments here.

Encouragingly, some Covid-19 patients who are being treated at the Hoa Vang Field Hospital and the Lung Hospital are positively responding to the treatment regimens with good therapeutic effects, and showing their health improvements.

For the time being, functional local forces are increasing their patrols and inspections of the public practice of the city's social physical distancing rules, and imposing administrate penalties on any breach.

From 27 July to 17 August, 900 million VND in fines were imposed on 903 violations.  Such offenses as leaving home under unnecessary circumstances gathering in groups, organising parties, and not wearing masks in public were strictly handled.
