Good deeds warm hearts of the disadvantaged amid pandemic-sparked tough times
Since Da Nang braced for the second wave of Covid-19 infections in late July, many organisations and individuals across the city have been active in supporting people to get through their financial hardship triggered by the coronavirus.

In a supportive move, representatives from Ngu Hanh Son District’s Khue My Ward chapter of the Da Nang Fatherland Front Committee have presented gifts to 243 families living below and near the city's poverty thresholds in the locality.
Also, 1,668 in-kind gifts have been distributed to laid-off employees, and immigrant workers and students, across the district.
Likewise, many generous organisations and individuals across the ward have given cash and in-kind donations to those who are financially struggling to get through the hard times.
In particular, 97-year-old Tran Thi Thu, a heroic Vietnamese mother residing in Khue My Ward, has donated 5 million VND to support the ward authorities’ efforts to help vulnerable people encountering money problems.
In her mind, the mother Thu hoped that her donations would make a small contribution to support the needy in a bid to assist them in partly easing their financial burden during the pandemic.
In a similar vein, the municipal Women's Union, the War Veterans’ Association, the Farmer's Association, and the Youth Union have also played a pivotal role in providing active support to the disadvantaged across the city, in a prompt fashion.
As part of the ongoing ‘Millions of Meals’ campaign launched by the Viet Nam Youth Federation (VYF) Central Committee, the Da Nang Youth Union has delivered free thousands of food parcels to the most vulnerable and disadvantaged people citywide.
