In response to the 2020 Giving Strength to Exam Season campaign, as many as 300 student volunteers across Da Nang have made themselves available to candidates who are sitting the second phase of Viet Nam's national senior high school exit exams in the city on 3 and 4 September, anytime they are needed.

Besides, the young volunteers have been active in providing candidates with free food and drinks, school stationery essentials, and information about cheap and budget accommodation in Da Nang, as well as using motorbikes to carry candidates to their exam venues, and measuring their body temperatures.

Exam sitters have showed their gratitude to student volunteers for their kindness and active assistance.

Nguyen Han and Nguyen Hoang Long, both pupils of the Cam Le District-based Continuing Education Centre, are from Quang Nam Province’s Dien Ban Town, and they have received active assistance from volunteers Le Dinh Vu and Nguyen Canh Luc during their stay in Da Nang.

Vu is a student from the Da Nang Technical University of Medicine and Pharmacy, whilst Luc is studying at the University of Science and Technology.

Vu said “Like other volunteers, I am willing to offer my help to candidates who need it in an effort to ensure the safety for them during national senior high school exit exams amid coronavirus crisis”.

Mr Le Cong Hung, Deputy Secretary of the Da Nang Youth Union, said all volunteers participating in this year’s Giving Strength to Exam Season campaign tested negative for the virus. They are also required to wear face shields, gloves, face masks and eyeglasses, in order to limit the spread of the virus while staffing examination venues.

Moreover, the city’s Youth Union has distributed 6 handheld thermometers to each of exam venues in the city in order to ensure that the measuring of body temperature of candidates is conducted in a quick and effective fashion.

Mr Hung added candidates from outside Da Nang have been provided with free accomodation arranged by the Youth Union. Also, they receive free meals every day and student volunteers use motorbikes to carry candidates to their exam venues during national senior high school exit exams.
