Three companies have registered to bid for the 2nd stage of the upgrade of Da Nang Centre for Biotechnology, including Tissue Culture Facility, the Da Nang Management Board of Industrial and Civil Engineering Construction and Investment Projects has said.

The bidders are the city-based Nam Vinh JSC, the Dinh Viet JSC and the Le Vu JSC both in Ho Chi Minh City, and the city-headquartered Civil Engineering Construction and Trade Joint Stock Company No 591.

Stretched from Hoa Tho Tay into Hoa Phat wards in Cam Le District,  the 78,916m2 project is expected to cost more than 81 billion VND (US$3.5 million) in total funded by the city budget.

On 27 July, Da Nang People's Committee Chairman Huynh Duc Tho approved to develop the existing Da Nang Centre for Biotechnology into a biotechnology Research and Development (R&D) Centre in a bid to create the drive for socio-economic development in the South Central Region.

The project is expected to cost over 651 billion VND (US$28 million) which will be granted by governments of Viet Nam and Da Nang. It will be carried out during the 2020-2030 period.
