Da Nang residents race against typhoon Molave
Heavy rain and powerful winds are set to lash Da Nang from Tuesday night as typhoon Molave will move into Central Viet Nam.

People across Da Nang are expected to be hit with downpours and gales along the coasts until Wednesday, with the National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting (NCHMF) issuing a red warning for Wednesday.
Time is of the essence, as Da Nang residents are racing against typhoon Molave.

From Monday afternoon, large numbers of Da Nang residents, especially those living in the coastal areas of Son Tra and Ngu Hanh Son districts embarked upon reinforcing their houses’ resistance and taking their valuable assets to safety prior to Molave’s arrival.
As of 10 am on Monday, 1,242 out of the 1,235 fishing ships hailing from Da Nang with had been safely anchored in the Tho Quang fishing wharf and Song Thu port. Meanwhile, the 7 remaining ones which are now operating at sea have also been accessed constant warnings against the storm for the movement to safe shelters against the storm.

In total, 1,133 vessels now take shelters at the Tho Quang fishing wharf, of 403 hail from Da Nang, whilst the remainder are from other coastal localities nationwide. To avoid collision damage during the storm’s rage, all boats are tied closely together.
Upon receiving warnings against typhoon Molave, people across Da Nang have been placing large numbers of sand bags onto their roofs so as to prevent winds from blowing them off.

Under the municipal government’s mandates, the compulsory evacuation of residents from vulnerable areas citywide and the anchorages by fishing boats must be completed by 3pm on Tuesday afternoon, given the fact that staying home to protect their property is not worth risking their safety.

Builders are required to immediately stop the operation of overhead tower cranes, lower anchor hooks at the construction sites for high-rises and tenements which might pose danger to by-passers.
All schools across Da Nang will be closed on Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday for the safety of teachers and students.
