Tropical depression forecast to strengthen over East Sea, heavy rain continues to batter Da Nang
A tropical depression is forecast to strengthen over the East Sea, dominating the Da Nang weather front with heavy downpours continuing to batter most of its parts over the weekend and the next week, Viet Nam’s National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting has warned.

At 1.00pm today, 10 October, the center of the tropical depression is predicted to be about 240 km to the north-northeast of the Song Tu Tay Island, packing sustained wind speeds of levels 6-7, with a gust of level 9 near its centre.
At 10:00pm today, the depression is forecast to be positioned at latitude 13°6'N and longitude 113°5'E, about 400km southeast of the Hoang Sa Archipelago, showing no decline in its strong wind intensity near its centre.
The depression is moving toward the west-northwest with maximum sustained winds of about 10 – 15 kph.
Under the influence of this unpleasant weather incident, the waters off central regional localities from Quang Binh to Quang Ngai are likely to brace for scattered showers accompanied by thunderstorms, strong winds at level 6 with gusts of 7-8, sea waves from 2 to 4 m high, and very rough seas.
The mainland of Da Nang, and elsewhere in the mid-central region, are expected to get heavily soaked by the irritating wet weather with heavy downpours and thunderstorms over the weekend and the next week, amid fears over high rainfall accumulations. The city’s mercury is likely to witness a slight drop, promising for cooler days ahead.
