Efforts to support Agent Orange victims in Da Nang
Over recent years, the Da Nang Association of Victims of Agent Orange (AO)/Dioxin (DAVA) and its chapters across the city have been active in asking for cash and in-kind donations from domestic and foreign individuals and organisations to support more than 5,000 victims in Da Nang.

Two Care Centres for AO Victims and Disadvantaged Children in Thanh Khe and Hoa Vang districts, under the management of DAVA, have performed well in providing extensive care and rehabilitation services, along with literacy and vocational training courses, for 120 children of AO, hereby helping them find suitable jobs to match their capabilities and health conditions.
Staff of these centres wholeheartedly take care of child victims as if they were their birth children.
As a result, dozens of children of AO are now able to use computers and make chiffon flowers, incense sticks, and glass beadings. Many of them have been employed by manufacturing establishments and businesses in Da Nang.
Every year, DAVA carries out a wide range of practical and meaningful programmes to help victims of AO improve their living conditions and integrate into the community. Included are Tet Festival for Victims of AO, the National Day for Victims of AO, and the International Children's Day and Mid-Autumn Festival for children of AO.
Over the past 15 years, DAVA has received both cash and in-kind donations, totalling more than 100 billion VND, from foreign individuals and organisations to support victims of AO in Da Nang.
Chairman of DAVA To Nam said his organisation annually raises close to 9 billion VND on average from domestic and foreign philanthropists to care for and support victims of AO who need help.
“In the year to come, we will raise more funds to support AO victims, and organise more meaningful and practical programmes in a bid to help them confidently integrate into the local community" Chairman Nam remarked.
