This ongoing four-day break for the National Reunification Day (April 30) and Labour Day (May 1) holidays is seeing police forces in Da Nang set aside the fun of enjoying the relaxing festive ambiance of the public holidays so as to be duty at work with a high sense of responsibility and dedication.

According to Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Quang Thong, the Head of Mobile Police Command of the Da Nang Police Department, in addition to safeguarding important political events, police officers from his agency are focusing on increasing street patrols in a bid to promptly detect and handle the violations of traffic laws and criminal cases during the public holidays.
In particular, during performing their professional tasks, mobile police forces have always attached to ensuring the best practice of compulsorily protective measures against COVID-19.

For the time being, traffic police are being out across the city working proactively to target those flouting the law. They are swarming main streets to carry out random vehicle stops in a bid to detect and deal with alcohol and drug-related violations by road users, combat illegal racing, and handle oversized, overloaded vehicles.
Many divers found speeding, encroaching on traffic lanes, disobeying signs, drag racing, or otherwise disrupting traffic order were handled strictly.
Under the Vietnamese laws, police officers are authorised to stop road users, whether or not they have violated traffic rules, for an administrative inspection. The current law states that traffic cops can only pull someone over with probable cause.
Officers will be allowed to review road users’ documents, examine their vehicles, and perform breath tests for alcohol.
Drivers will be free to go if no violation is found. On the other hand, fines will be imposed if they are discovered breaking any regulations on road safety.
The local law enforcement force is currently increasing checks over long-haul passenger coaches, especially those traveling on the north-south route passing through Da Nang in an attempt to promptly discover and handle cases of transporting illegal border jumpers.
