Viet Nam's National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting said heatwave conditions with persistently high temperatures are expected in the Northwest, the North Central Coast and the Mid-Central Viet Nam, including Da Nang, today, May 10 due to the effects of the influence of the developing southern low pressure trough associated with a strong foehn wind in the southwest region.

Sweltering temperatures of 35 and 37 degree Celsius are common across parts of these regions today, and the maximum temperature could hit over 37 degree Celsius in some parts.

The national forecasters said the heat wave is expected to linger in the North and Central Viet Nam through this week.

Tuesday into Sunday, temperatures of 35 and 38 degree Celsius will be common in these regions with maximum temperatures soaring to over 39 degree Celsius in some parts.

These regions could see temperatures soar to over 35 degree Celsius from midday until 5pm.

The heatwave will on Monday into early next weeek in Da Nang with the lowest temperatures ranging from 25 and 26 degree Celsius and the maximum temperatures soaring between 35 and 36 degree Celsius.
