Da Nang confirmed 61 new COVID-19 cases on Friday, August 6, of which 48 cases were put under mandatory quarantine at centralised facilities, 10 were already-blockaded areas and only 3 were spotted in the community, the municipal Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control freshly said.

The encouraging sign is that the city has seen a decrease in its daily infection counts, and especially, a sharp decline in the number of positives cases acquired in the community, over the past days.

As regard to the community-acquired cases detected on Friday, one was an out- patient testing positive for the virus during his in-person visit to the Hai Chau Medical Centre for checkups and the remaining two were stall holders at Lien Chieu District-based Hoa Khanh Market and Ngu Hanh Son District-located Khai Tay Market, respectively.

Of special note, 54 out of the total 61 cases logged on Friday were linked to the highly transmissible infection chain at the Son Tra District-based Tho Quang fishing wharf.

The total infections recorded in the city have climbed to 1,153 since July 10.
