Strengthening enforcement of stay-at-home order in Nai Hien Dong Ward in strict local lockdown

New positive cases detected in the community prompted the Son Tra District authorities to roll out strict local lockdown measures in Nai Hien Dong Ward on August 1.

The COVID-19 community taskforce have been deployed to checkpoints to enforce the stay-at-home order in residents in this local lockdown area. The new lockdown order allows people to leave their homes or their local area only for essential purposes and authorized work.

Members of the COVID-19 community taskforce are coming door-to-door around Nai Hien Dong Ward to daily check body temperature of local residents in an effort to monitor their health allowing for early detection of suspected cases, as well as provide food and essential items for them in order to help them feel secure and safe during local lockdown period.

Apart from tightening controls at checkpoints, police officers are increasing their patrons on roads to take action against anyone who leave home without 'reasonable excuse'.

The taskforce will introduce strictest punishments for anyone found to be breaking lockdown rules.

Fines of VND 15 million – VND 20 million will apply to people caught travelling on road without a reasonable excuse under Decree No. 117/2020/ND-CP issued by Viet Nam’s national government, which provides penalties for administrative violations in the healthcare sector. In addition, violators of the lockdown rules will be required to undergo compulsory quarantine in designated facilities. 

As of August 1, a total of 80 people in Nai Hien Dong Ward had tested positive for COVID-19.
