Da Nang records more COVID-19 cases linked to infected worker in Hoa Khanh Industrial Park

Till date, 6 more COVID-19 cases linked to a community-acquired patient confirmed on September 19 who is a worker in the Matrix Co., Ltd based in Da Nang’s Hoa Khanh Industrial Park has been recorded, doctor Ton That Thanh, the Director of the Da Nang Centre for Disease Control (CDC) announced at a meeting held by the municipal Steering Board for COVID-19 Prevention and Control on Monday.

The infected worker above-mentioned is an inhabitant in residential group No. 64, Hoa Khanh Nam Ward, Lien Chieu District, working on production line B7 in the Matrix Co., Ltd. She tested positive for SARS-CoV- 2 late on September 19.

Till date, another worker on production line B7, dwelling in residential group No. 7, Phan Van Dinh Street, Hoa Khanh Bac Ward, Lien Chieu District has also tested positive for SARS-CoV- 2. Initially, through rapid antigen tests, her daughter and 3 neighbours belonging to the same family have also tested positive for the virus.

Another worker at this company, working on production line B6, residing in Hoa Son Commune, Hoa Vang District, has confirmed to be infected with the virus.

According to Mr. Nguyen Dang Huy, Chairman of the Lien Chieu District People's Committee, till date a total of 408 close, casual or low-risk contacts of the confirmed cases, working on production lines B6, B7 and B8, have been identified.

According to Tran Van Ty, Deputy Head of the Authority of the Da Nang Hi-Tech Park and Industrial Zones, upon the detection of the above-mentioned cases, this agency asked the Matrix Co., Ltd. to withdraw all travel passes owned by its employees so as to curb the further spread of the virus in the community.

It is know that the Matrix Co., Ltd specializes in game production, employing 3,186 workers.

On September 19 when the first new case was recorded in the company, 2,204 workers were working on the spot.

Till date, 2,426 workers at this company have been vaccinated against COVID-19. Periodic SARS-CoV-2 tests were conducted on all workers on September 6, 9 and 12 and all of them obtained negative results.
