A hard-working sanitation worker diligently cleans streets every day
Although Ms Nguyen Thi Thu Hien, a worker of Team 4, Hai Chau Environmental Enterprise, Da Nang Urban Environment Company, has only been in the profession for 2 years, she is always trusted and highly appreciated by her colleagues and superiors due to her agility, enthusiasm at work as well as the will to overcome difficulties in life.

In the same vein as many other sanitation workers, her daily duty to collect garbage starts from 5:30 am to 10:30 am and from 13:30 to 17 pm. The image of a small but agile and responsible woman pushing a full garbage truck through each route has become familiar to the households in the area where she is assigned to collect garbage. Not only being diligent with her duties, but Ms Hien also actively participates in coordinating propaganda and mobilizing people to well implement regulations on environmental sanitation.
According to Ms Hien, every profession owns its difficulties, but for this profession, it is true that one cannot fully measure the hardships as well as social prejudices and the risk of illness when exposed to dust, and hazardous wastes when they have not done it. In particular, the heavy traffic at peak hours makes it dangerous for her when to do this job. However, she feels happy, and proud and loves the work she is doing when looking at the amount of garbage collected and the clean streets
Previously, Ms Hien was a worker at Hoa Cam Industrial Park, but the company had no orders and had to cut staff due to the impact of the pandemic. She lost her job while her family circumstance was extremely difficult at that time. Since being accepted to work at Hai Chau Environmental Enterprise, she has travelled 80 km by motorbike every day between Da Nang - Dai Loc, Quang Nam Province to not have to pay rent and be able to stay at home to take care of two children who were in adulthood and her elderly parents.
With a total monthly income of about VND 7 million, she has to save as much as possible since she has to spend a lot of money on the family. She even takes advantage of 4 days off per month to do more seasonal work such as serving weddings, and parties or cleaning the house for families in need.
As shared by Mr Tran Van Nhut, the Chairman of the Trade Union of her company, Ms Hien is a hard-working worker with a sense of responsibility at work. Moreover, when someone in the team is sick, she will help them to do the work. The Trade Union has also regularly paid attention to, visited and supported her mentally and physically so that she has more motivation to stick with the profession for a long time.
Director of Hai Chau Environmental Enterprise Nguyen Trong Khanh said that Hai Chau district is in the city centre, so the quality of environmental sanitation must be improved. Currently, the enterprise has a total of 280 employees. In addition to the senior workers who are always taken care of by the enterprise, enthusiastic young workers who always comply with the regulations at work like Ms Hien are also supported, encouraged and rewarded in a timely manner to create a positive working atmosphere that contributes to the overall achievement of the company.
Ms Hien is considered a dynamic sanitation worker with a high sense of responsibility in her work and efforts to overcome difficulties. This is an example for the workers in the enterprise to actively work, successfully complete the assigned tasks, contributing to making the urban landscape of Da Nang more clean and beautiful.
