On Monday, heatwave condition is likely to prevail over the mountainous areas in the parts from Thanh Hoa to Thua Thien-Hue as the mercury may rise above 35 degrees Celsius at isolated locations. Temperatures are expected to exceed 35 degrees Celsius between 1:00pm and 4:00pm. Lowest humidity is likely to record at 55-65 per cent.
On Tuesday, 35 to 37 degrees Celsius are expected across the parts from Thanh Hoa to Phu Yen, including Da Nang. Temperatures are predicted to remain very high in these areas until July 29-30.
The combined effects of hot and low humidity conditions along with high winds blowing from the southwest pose an increased fire or explosion risk in residential areas in Central Viet Nam. In addition, the extreme heat, coupled with drought conditions across much of Central Viet Nam, help fuel wildfires in the region.
Persistent soaring temperatures can lead to illnesses such as dehydration and even heatstroke. Health experts said residents in the warning region should try to stay cool and drink plenty of water.
Heat alerts cover the parts from Da Nang to Binh Thuan from Monday into Friday while scattered showers and thunderstorms at most places during the late afternoon with moderate and heavy rainfall at isolated places are very likely over these areas from Wednesday into Sunday.
