Da Nang gears up attracting more environmental protection projects
A training programme on project management skills in the field of environment on Wednesday took place in Da Nang within the framework of the project ‘Join hands to protect water resources’ funded by the United States Agency for International Cooperation (USAID).
The event was jointly held by the Da Nang Department of Natural Resources and the Environment on Wednesday coordinated with the Centre for Environment and Community Research (CECR) and the Viet Nam Water Conservation Network (VIWACON).
As reported, a combined total of 100 experts, officials and civil servants from local departments and agencies across the city participated in training to effectively implement environmental protection programmes and projects as well as attract more in the coming time.
The training aimed to develop a contingent of capable and qualified staff to meet the requirements, goals and tasks of the ongoing project of building Da Nang into an environmentally-friendly city in the 2021-2030 period.
According to the municipal Department of Natural Resources and the Environment, over the past time, more than 10 foreign NGOs and international organisations have given more than VND70 billion worth of support to 13 research programmes and projects piloting on environmental protection and response to climate change, especially in the field of sustainable waste management and plastic waste reduction.
Currently, the city is on course to attract a number of projects and programmes to support environmental protection worth a total of tens of billions of VND in order to contribute to turning Da Nang into an environmentally friendly city, heading towards an ecological city.
