Cold, wet weather continues in Da Nang until Friday
A weather warning remains in place for Da Nang as the city will continue experiencing cold and wet weather conditions for the next two days.
In a statement issued on Tuesday afternoon, the Mid-Central Region Centre for Hydro-meteorological Forecasting said that the chilly, cloudy and windy conditions as well as localized heavy rains are expected to persist in the parts from Quang Binh to Quang Ngai, including Da Nang, until Friday, December 23.
The regional weather service has attributed the cold weather to the influence of an intense cold snap.
Bitter cold temperatures are expected to strike the parts from Quang Binh to Thua Thien- Hue as the minimum temperature is predicted to drop to 14 to 17 degrees Celsius, and even 12 to 14 degrees Celsius in their mountainous areas. Cold front will also see temperatures plummet in the parts from Da Nang to Quang Ngai, with temperatures expected to range from 17 to 19 degrees Celsius, and even 16 to 18 degrees Celsius in their mountainous areas.
These areas are expected to experience very cold at night time and during early mornings, regional forecasters warned.
The cold wave conditions intensify as the mercury is expected to drop further during the daytime and night hours on Wednesday in Quang Binh and Quang Tri provinces with the minimum temperature likely to fall to 14-16 degrees Celsius, and even 12 to 14 degrees Celsius in their mountainous areas.
Thua Thien- Hue Province, and the parts from Da Nang to Quang Ngai will aslo come under the influence of intense cold wave as the minimum temperature is likely to settle in the range from 15-17 degrees Celsius in Thua Thien- Hue Province, and even 13 to 15 degrees Celsius in its mountainous areas, as well as to touch from 17-19 degrees Celsius in Da Nang, Quang Nam and Quang Ngai provinces, and even 16 to 18 degrees Celsius in their mountainous areas.
Light to moderate rain with localized heavy falls is in forecast today for the parts from Quang Binh to Quang Ngai, including Da Nang. A high wind watch is issued to these areas due to the influence of intense cold snap.
Regional forecasters have issued warnings of strong winds and big waves to all vessels and fishermen at sea. The regional weather service have also issued a caution for fishermen and mariners, urging them not to go out into the sea during severe weather conditions, and to take the initiative to avoid dangerous areas or seek safe shelters during the bad weather.
