Meeting new requirements

When it switched to a joint stock enterprise with the state-managed capital ratio of 51% in late 2015, the Da Nang Urban Environment JSC had only 40 garbage collection and transportation vehicles, and most of which are old.

In 2017, the company purchased four garbage compactor trucks with loading weight of 4.5 tonnes each, four garbage collection trucks with loading weight of 400-800kg each, and 15 electric tricycles to collect garbage in the city.

In recent years, despite many difficulties, the company has invested in more motor vehicles to meet the requirements of environmental sanitation in the city, especially motor vehicles for garbage collection on small and crowded streets.

In order to ensure the environmental sanitation before, during and after the Tet Festival 2022, the company mobilized 75 existing motor vehicles, including 63 garbage rolling and transporting vehicles, 2 hooklift trucks, 5 canoes with a capacity of 5m3 each, one road sweeper, and 4 road washer trucks, to clean up local streets.

These vehicles contributed to helping the company complete the cleanup operations of roads on New Year's Eve at 0:46 am on the first day of the Lunar New Year.

Stemming from the practical requirements of environmental sanitation in the city as well as of the municipal and district-level People's Committees, in February 2022, the Board of Directors of the company agreed to spend more than VND10 billion purchasing 2 specialized garbage compactor trucks with a capacity of 9.5m3 each, one with a capacity of 14m3 and one road sweeper. These four vehicles were put into used in the third quarter of 2022.

Also in the third quarter of 2022, the Board of Directors of the company gave a nod to buy 10 garbage compactor trucks having a tank capacity of 4m3 and loading weight of 1.5 tonnes each, and 4 others having a tank capacity of 7m3 and loading weight of 3 tonnes each at a total of VND16.22 billion.

Of this figure, nearly VND4.9 billion came from the company’s budget, whilst the remaining VND11.32 billion was borrowed from the city’s Development Investment Fund.

The trucks are new generation small garbage compactor trucks in service of the collection and transportation of garbage along small roads across the city, as well as transferring trash to the garbage transfer station on Le Thanh Nghi Street and the Son Tra garbage transfer station in the coming time.

Two contractors, namely the Sai Gon Transportation Mechanical Corporation - One Member Co., Ltd (SAMCO) and the Duc Long Transport-Trade and Industrial Construction JSC, won the bid to supply 14 vehicles with a total value of VND15.7 billion.

In early December 2022, all 14 vehicles were handed over to the Da Nang Urban Environment JSC.

Synchronized with modern garbage transfer stations

General Director of the Da Nang Urban Environment JSC Vo Minh Duc remarked, the newly-invested vehicles boast outstanding technical features, manufactured and assembled with high quality technical standards. The specialized trash compactors are made of lightweight alloy with high durability. The hydraulic system and the control of the garbage compactor are designed optimally and simply to ensure the operational efficiency.

In the coming time, the company will continue to invest in new generation garbage compactor trucks in a bid to meet the city's requirements on environmental sanitation as well as in accordance with the traffic situation, he added.

According to General Director Duc, the purchase of new generation garbage compactor trucks contributes to ensuring the good operation of the modern garbage transfer stations in the city.

Mr. Dang Que Hung from the SAMCO noted with 14 new-generation small-sized garbage compactor trucks and 2 modern garbage transfer stations, Da Nang has made significant changes in solutions, techniques and equipment for management, collection and transportation of garbage in a modern and civilized manner in an effort to make the city cleaner, more beautiful and worthy of being an attractive destination for domestic and foreign tourists.
