Prize winners of 2022 Da Nang Scientific Research Contest for Students announced
Fifteen outstanding scientific projects were honoured at the awards ceremony for the 2022 Da Nang Scientific Research Contest for Students held in the city on Saturday.

Phan Thi Kim Phuong and Nguyen Thi Thanh Nhan, both from the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy of the University of Da Nang won the first prize for their project on synthesis of new derivatives containing 2-aminothiazole-3-ium compounds and assessment of antibacterial activity.
Also, the first prize went to a group of students consisting of Nguyen Hoang Diem Quyen, Nguyen Ngoc Ha An, Nguyen Hoang Van Anh and Nguyen Huu Tung, all from the Da Nang University of Economics for their project themed ‘To Think and to Feel: A Study into The Relationship between Aesthetics and Users' Behavioral Intentions towards Mobile Banking Applications’.

The second prizes were shared by a group of Phan Tuan Nhat, Tran Viet Minh Phat and Nguyen Van Truc from the Da Nang University of Technical Education for their project on building a smart waste management system for COVID-19 patients who are being treated at home, and a group of Mai Thi Thu Hien, Pham Van Quoc Hieu and Truong Van Minh from the Da Nang University of Education for their project on teaching STEM subjects for the development of students' qualities and abilities: a research topic ‘Weather - Grade 10 Physics’.

The third prizes were awarded to a group of Ngo Thanh Mai and Nguyen To Luong from the Da Nang University of Education for their research project on chemical composition and biological activities of Aralia armata (Wall.) Seem roots of the ginseng family of Araliaceae, and a group of students Dang Thi Lan Trinh, Pham Thi Phuong Na, Nguyen Thi Tai Linh, Le Thi Thuy Duong and Vo Thi Hien from the Da Nang University of Education for the project on designing interactive books to educate children aged 5-6 about environmental protection.
In addition, the contest’s organisers presented 9 consolation prizes to outstanding groups of students from five universities across the city.
The 2022 Da Nang Scientific Research Contest for Students attracted 123 entries from groups of students from 13 universities and colleges citywide.
In his remarks at the awards ceremony, Secretary of the Da Nang Youth Union Nguyen Manh Dung said that the contest provided an opportunity for students to show their great passion for scientific and technological creativity, and exchange accumulated knowledge and experience during the learning process.
He added, in the coming time, the Municipal Youth Union will make every effort to call for businesses and investors to support students’ projects, as well as ask for help from the city leaders to support innovation start-up activities among students.
According to Deputy Director of the municipal Department of Science and Technology Duong Hoang Van Ban, over the past time, the city leaders are interested in science and technology activities, and innovation start-up, with a focus on scientific research activities among Youth Union members and university and college students.
He highlighted the significance of the contest in contributing to promoting the spirit of scientific research among students, and step by step effectively applying research products to life in service of the city’s socio-economic development.
