Securing good care for policy beneficiary families and beneficiaries of welfare policies in Da Nang for Tet
Apart from giving cash gifts for Lunar New Year (Tet) 2023 in line with the Da Nang People’s Council’s resolution No. 275 dated December 12, 2019, the municipal government will spend more than VND 52 billion to offer additional Tet gifts valued at VND 500,000 each to people with meritorious services to the nation, policy beneficiary families, poor households, and beneficiaries of welfare policies, bringing the total financial support for these people for Tet to close to VND115 billion. These gifts are part of the city’s humane policy to provide timely support for these people in a bid to help them have a happy and cozy Tet.

According to the Da Nang Department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs, the Da Nang People’s Council’s resolution No. 275 identified beneficiaries and the values of gifts for the Annual Lunar New Year Festival. Beneficiaries for annual Tet gifts included revolutionary contributors and their families, along with beneficiaries of welfare policies.
“In 2022, the city suffered from many different types of natural hazards, including storms and floods, thereby affecting local people's lives. Therefore, the municipal Department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs has asked the municipal administration to increase the values of gifts for Year of the Cat Lunar New Year 2023 for these people. It is expected that 41,000 revolutionary contributors and their families in the city will receive additional Tet cash gifts worth VND 20.5 billion in total while 316 individuals with typical meritorious services and 21 families of people with typical meritorious services will receive a total of over VND 168 million. In addition, more than 26 VND billion will go to support 52,225 beneficiaries of welfare policies,” said Mr. Nguyen Dang Hoang, the Director of the Da Nang Department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs.
In their efforts to help this policy reach the beneficiaries, authorities at local level across the city have developed a specific plan to secure good care for policy beneficiary families and beneficiaries of welfare policies for Tet.
Mr. Nguyen Huu Cong, Vice Chairman of the Thanh Khe District People's Committee, said that high priority will be given to visiting and giving Tet gifts to people with meritorious services to the nation living under difficult circumstances, nursing centres that care those who have rendered services to the nation, along with people living and being cared for in social protection facilities.
A part from Tet gifts totaling VND nearly 1.2 billion funded by national budget, 3,652 revolutionary contributors and their families in Thanh Khe District will receive additional gifts in line with the Da Nang People’s Council’s resolution No. 275.
Besides, a total of 7,711 beneficiaries of welfare policies in the district are expected to enjoy benefits from the Da Nang People’s Council’s resolution No. 275. Furthermore, Thanh Khe District authorities have asked for help from the Da Nang Fatherland Front Committee at all levels to call for financial support for near-poor households and “newly escaped from poverty” households.

In Son Tra District, 2,987 revolutionary contributors will receive a combined total of VND more than 916 million VND in Tet gifts funded by national budget in addition to nearly 5.4 billion VND in line with the Municipal People’s Council’s resolution No. 275.
Moreover, poor and near-poor households and extremely poor families will receive Tet gifts from the Da Nang Fatherland Front Committee. In addition, more than 500 gifts will be given to disadvantaged households affected by natural disasters and COVID-19 pandemic. Furthermore, 480 gifts valued at VND 500,000 each from the Municipal Labour Confederation plus 120 others worth VND 500,000 each from the Son Tra District Chapter of the Municipal Labour Confederation will go to support workers and public employees who are living under difficult circumstances.
In Ngu Hanh Son District, policy beneficiary families and beneficiaries of welfare policies will also receive Tet gifts funded by national and city budgets along with donations raised from individuals and organizations by the district authorities.
Apart from cash gifts from the national and municipal governments, local level authorities are making great efforts to call on individuals and organizations to donate their money to support poor policy beneficiary families to help them have a happy and warm Tet.
