Earlier, at around 7:00 a.m. this morning, the Viet Nam Search and Rescue Coordination Centre (Viet Nam MRCC) received urgent call from Cu Lao Cham on a situation under which a patient had a stroke and high blood pressure.

The man was studying at the Tan Hiep Military and Civil Medicine Hospital on the island when the disease changed seriously and the prognosis was poor. It is known that the island is isolated due to severe weather.

In the fact that there was no means to reach the island, the Border Guard Command of Quang Nam Province contacted Viet Nam MRCC to take measures to support in terms of medical personnel so as to promptly and urgently bring the patient to the shore for emergency.

Staff from Viet Nam MRCC, in coordination with the 115 Emergency Center in Da Nang, quickly moved onboard SAR 412 belonging to Da Nang MRCC, to perform rescue missions for patients on the island.

On the same day, Viet Nam MRCC received another urgent report on one more patient having a stroke with symptoms of shortness of breath and coma.

With the fastest cruise speed, at 9:54 a.m. on the same day, the rescue ship SAR 412 approached the island and brought the patient to shore for treatment.

As of 11:18 a.m, both patients had returned to Da Nang safely and they were handed over to the authorities as prescribed. Initially, the duo overcame the critical condition.

According to forecasts, during the upcoming Tet break, the bad weather at sea is likely to last for a long time, potentially causing many risks of maritime accidents and incidents.

Viet Nam MRCC recommends that all ships' crew members constantly monitor weather developments in the operating waters, strengthen vigilance and ensure safety measures.
