The Da Nang government has given a nod for the implementation of the more than VND12.3 billion ‘Clean city, blue ocean’ programme funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the Tetra Tech ARD Company (ARD, INC).

The programme will be carried out in the city from January 2023 - August 2024. Its aim is to promote the reduction, reuse, and recycling of solid waste, as well as strengthen the plastic recycling market, sustainable solid waste management and operational recycling action.

The programme will feature activities to strengthen the capacity of the local solid waste management system; study and propose suitable options for the operation and the closure of 5 sanitary landfills at the Khanh Son solid waste treatment complex; and propose the optimal plan to operate the garbage transfer station on Le Thanh Nghi Street.

As part of the programme, the project ‘Circular economy, and increasing recycling and waste collection in Da Nang’, and a green school model will be implemented in the city. Besides, equipment for garbage collection will be supported for Da Nang, including garbage hand carts to collect recyclables, and recycling trash bags and bins.
