According to Vice Chairman of the municipal Confederation of Labour Le Van Dai, the 'Free Coaches of Trade Union' programme, which has been carried out for the past few years, is a practical and meaningful action towards the migrant workers who cannot afford to go home for the most special holiday of the year.
From January 13 - 20, a total of 67 coaches carry nearly 3,000 trade union members and poor workers back to their hometowns in other parts of Viet Nam to celebrate the upcoming Tet Festival. In particular, the farthest destination in Northern Viet Nam is Thanh Hoa Province, in Southern Viet Nam is Binh Dinh Province and in the Central Highlands is Dak Lak Province.
On such free rides, each trade union member is supported with a free lunch meal worth VND100,000 each, a bottle of water, and lucky money from the city's Confederation of Labour.
