Youth Union member Tran Quoc Chi Hieu, residing in Hoa Khanh Bac Ward, Lien Chieu District, has a hobby of visiting local ‘red addresses’, known as revolutionary relics, to learn more about patriotic and revolutionary traditions of those who sacrificed for the sake of the nation’s independence and freedom.
In the past, Hieu grasped basic information on cultural and historical sites directly introduced by custodians there. But recently, whilst visiting revolutionary base B1 Hong Phuoc in Lien Chieu District, Hieu just needed to use a smartphone and scan the QR codes placed inside this place to get sufficient introductory information.
“At B1 Hong Phuoc relic site, just scan the QR codes to see an introductory video about this place. The information from the video is compiled elaborately, attractively. The content is concise, helping visitors to understand and easily remember the information about the relic site. I find attaching QR codes at ‘red addresses’ very highly practical and meaningful. Hopefully, other historical sites and tourist attractions across the city will also be attached with QR codes”, said Hieu.
According to Secretary of the Lien Chieu District Youth Union chapter Huynh Thanh Binh, when visiting ‘red addresses’ such as Da Son, Xuan Thieu and Hoa My communal village houses Lien Chieu District communal houses and B1 Hong Phuoc revolutionary site. Visitors just need to scan the QR codes to grasp whatever information they need in a quick manner.
In 2022, the Da Nang Youth Union organised the contest “Attaching QR Codes at revolutionary, historical and cultural relics’ with the participation of pupils from 21 citywide schools. They participated in making introductive representations and videos on these sites.
The Youth Union-launched video competition ‘Pride of Da Nang - Digitising ‘red addresses’ has been launched across the city to educate Youth Union members, and young residents as a whole, about the Fatherland’s revolutionary traditions, thereby contributing to the promotion of culture and tourism at local ‘red addresses’.
Outstanding videos, in addition to receiving awards from the competion’s organisers, are also selected to attach with QR codes that will be then attached to ‘red addresses’ in service for all visitors.
According to Secretary of the Da Nang Youth Union Nguyen Manh Dung, from now until July 2023, his agency is creating QR codes at 2 special national monuments, 17 national-level and 67 municipal-level relic sites.
Such a highly meaningful campaign helps promote cultural and historical sites and landmarks, and in tandem with demonstrating the young people's volunteering and creative spirit in the application of IT and digital transformation.
