Over the past decade, a charity class has been provided for the visually impaired at the Center for Inclusive Education Development Support under the Da Nang Department of Education and Training by the Social Work Team of DUT.

Le Thi Thuy Trang, the third year student of the Faculty of Civil and Industrial Construction, DUT, who is Head of the Teaching Board of the Social Work Team, expressed that the team has determined to help the visually impaired pupils master knowledge during the learning process. After 10 years of accompanying and overcoming many difficulties and challenges, the team has witnessed the continuous development in their learning.

Aside from teaching activities, the team members regularly organise cultural exchange activities, creating fun moments and helping children be confident and feel more love from everyone.

“The team's guiding principle is to help the pupils collect small pieces of knowledge every day, so that in the future they will accumulate greater knowledge. Personally, I learned how to communicate and accept life more positively, especially how to respect differences that are difficult for us to get from real-life experiences" Trang confided.

According to Leader Le Van Lich of the Social Work Team, the team organizes two teaching sessions on Monday and Thursday every week from 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm. About 20 students engage in each session.

“Over the past 10 years, the embossed letters on the pages of the book have become increasingly brighter and the smiles and efforts of the students are a great reward for all members. In the future, the team will continue their teaching journey with the desire to bring many values and create positive changes in children's lives. The team hopes to not only teach but also inspire and change pupils’ thinking, helping them realise that they can do more" Lich shared.

With the same wishes as the members of the Social Work Team, recently, the VKU’s Youth Union organisation has coordinated with the municipal Red Cross Society to open a basic computer class for pupils at the Society's Charity Career Orientation Centre.

The aim of the class is to help students grasp office information technology skills, search and select information on the internet, learn about the city's public service portal, and create a fan page to sell handicrafts.

Mr. Nguyen Bao Tich, a member of the Youth Union organisation said that VKU is a school specialising in teaching information technology, so it is a strength for students to be able to guide basic as well as advanced information technology skills for pupils at the center.

Specifically, the organisation offers a basic computer science class 3 times a week on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

In addition to computers, the organisation supports projectors, network equipment and electricity for the classes. Currently, the class has 15 students at different groups of ages.

“Society is constantly developing through electronic networks, so equipping students with information technology knowledge is necessary. Through the basic information technology sessions at the center, we received positive feedback from students. That is a good sign for us to create a useful classroom space, and spread meaningful things to other needy children” Mr. Tich said.
