Gen Z guy's useful gender education app
Realising the negative impact of the lack of gender knowledge among teenagers, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Duy, 22, the founder of GenTeach Education and Trading Co. Ltd., Hoa Hai Ward, Ngu Hanh Son District developed the GenTeach app with gender education content for young people aiming for a safe and healthy community.
GenTeach application developed by Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Duy has five functions: GenNews, GenStudy, GenChat, GenPodcast and GenShop. |
Nguyen Ngoc Duy expressed that, as a teenager, he had encountered gender-related problems and so did most of his friends around him. At that time, Duy was confused because there was too much information on social networks and was also very shy about sharing such sensitive issues with anyone, even his family and relatives.
Therefore, while being a third-year student majoring in Tourism and Travel Services Management at Da Nang-based private Dong A University, Duy and his peers developed the GenTeach application for the age group of 14 - 25 with the guidance and support of experts, lecturers and researchers in the field of gender education, aiming to provide adolescents with the necessary knowledge and skills in gender education and mental health.
With outstanding advantages such as integrating artificial intelligence (AI), virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR), the application provides an interactive and personalised educational experience that helps users feel comfortable when discussing any topics they really want.
According to Duy, appearing on Google Play brings expectations for technological breakthroughs. The GenTeach application has five functions: GenNews, GenStudy, GenChat, GenPodcast and GenShop. GenNews helps update concise and quick gender education information through short videos, GenStudy provides gender education knowledge through courses. Meanwhile, GenChat connects experts, doctors, and AI to advise and resolve current situations.

To create a comfortable interactive environment, GenPodcast delivers interesting stories with a music library to help customers relax, and Genshop is a place to provide products related to gender education. The goal of the application is to help 70% of young people equip themselves with necessary knowledge and skills to limit unwanted consequences.
“When developing GenTeach, I want to bring four core values to users: providing accurate and reliable information, ensuring that the content is verified; prioritising user safety, provide a civilised online environment, and focus on education about gender safety and safe product usage; respecting gender diversity and personal views, encouraging a friendly, tolerant and gender-neutral environment; protecting users' personal information and promoting the safe use of technology.
With high applicability, GenTeach was in the top 10 outstanding projects at the Da Nang Innovation and Startup Competition - SURF 2024. In addition, at SURF 2024, Duy cooperated with Rebo Technology JSC and The Sandbox to develop technology solution applications and organise training for students and teachers at schools across the city.
Ms. Le Thi Thuc, the Deputy Director of the Da Nang Department of Science and Technology, highly appreciated the potential of GenTeach. Thereby, young people of minor age have a space for consultation, learning and exchange to improve their knowledge of gender education. In addition, the signing of cooperation agreements with the two partners at SURF 2024 will be a foundation for GenTeach to seize opportunities and develop successful applications in the future.
